Skating A Vert Ramp Mic'd Up 101 Session
Dude that was sick! I loved all three transfers! I'm super impressed at 51YO you can skate that huge spine! You are willing to take the risks and reap the rewards even though you were dealing with other pains. What back pain are you having? I'm asking because I'm 47YO and deal with lower back (sciatica) pain on a regular basis.
Spitfire OG Classics? Hmm. Can you tell me more about these wheels? Have you try maybe Spitfire Full Conical 100/99/97? Is 99 duro OK, for wooden environment? Have you maybe try 97 euro on wood? As always, great videos man! I'm getting a lot of inspirations for new tricks and a lot of motivation to travel to new places! <3
Yeah dude, I find 99a F4 is fine on the wood?
I need to fix my passport and visit that place next year. Looks so S I C K !
Good stuff. Can't stop watching!
Many thanks for tuning in!
Maaaaan! that was sick bowl!
It’s blimmin’ ace that one!
OK! IM PUMPED! WHAT NOW?! no but for real, amazing video, a lot of cool tricks. Milkshake drop in? Turban? the other one that I forget already? you name it! will be back for sure, to check them again at spot!
Like a decent 70s snake run and a bit of Rom’s moguls
Such a good skateboarder
I am 52 and just dropped a halfpipe last month, so I know exactly what you felt. You are a great inspiration. My hands are sweating just from watching you :).
Finally the path i need.... or an idea of the path.... kited surfed since 2007, 2 or 3 times a month if im lucky, still going with big loops, board offs, hooked 900 rotations and small handle passes. Give me a storm at Branksome 😉 on a 7m. At 42 ive picked up skate boarding (i had miss spent youth failing to be van halen) i got bored of taking my 3 year old son to the local skate park on his bike and not having anything to do. So after getting a board and a suit of armer, i'm about two months in. Im touching on skill number 3 with some smaller drop ins. Been finding it difficult to find the best way to progress. There's so much content out there... big thank you for your beginning videos. Cheers dude.
Nice one man, yeah skating with the nippers is the source! I kitesurf and windsurf, I found the skating highly addictive, no storms required, now I have a shed of stuff that doesn’t get used 😂
Its to great to see your kids skating with you! My daughters are teenage but ride quad skates. So they come to the skatepark with me from time to time.
Nice circuit to practice one's balance, what wheels did you run it on? They sound soft...
Hey dude, wheels Spitfire are 99a, it’s just the concrete is super smooth and sealed !
This episode kicks asssssss John. I am up to around phase four and worked it out intuitively (or perhaps slowly) up till now. I love how comprehensive you are with the process. Its hard to convert advice to action, but sometimes after you stumble into a trick, you realise that everything "everyone" told you was correct, but you had to make all the mistakes up to that point for it to ACTUALLY sink in. Based on recent experience this is a master class. Only hard bit is finding the right size quarter and coping to go through the phases! Anyhow, this next phase is going to be a lot easier now. Many thanks!
Yeah dude, so true. I recently had a mission to ride over a rainbow rail. I planned it out and was pretty sure I knew all the elements I needed to make it. I also knew all the things not to do. I visualised making it over and over in the lead up. I started the session and then did every single wrong thing in order over multiple tries 😂 My body needs to make those mistakes regardless of my academic knowledge it seems?
@@JonBishopSkateexactly, “book smarts” only gets you so far. But boy does it help after you made the mistake.. instead of saying “what the hell happened?!” You can almost instantly know what the problem was.. I learned to far back, I wasn’t learning forward enough etc.. Did you get the trick? (Rainbow rail)

@@JonBishopSkate Hell yeah, well done! That looked psychologically taxing!
Sick 🤘
What skatepark is that?
Hey dude, indoor is Prevail, outdoor is Midsomer Norton
@@JonBishopSkate thank you I will try that out soon
I love your videos I am a big fan i am trying to learn some skate tricks, got any advice?
I have seen you at nansledan skatepark before 😂
So good. Thank you very much!
Many thanks for tuning in!
Nice, we're you at the maverick jam there on the 31st
Yeah dude!
great video Jon...gunna visit soon... cheers Gis.
That ramp is sick
Great video Jon, just got a board after 40 years this week and went to the pump track. Bumps looked scary. Went back today dropped in, great buzz. Will leave the turns for another day. You decribed the feeling really well and great tips. One question looking at a few of the comments, do a lot of people pick up a serious injury at some stage?
Hey dude, many thanks for the kind words. I wouldn’t want to influence your experience going forward, but I recon it’s worth being mindful that injuries are part and parcel of it for most people? That said a pump track is one of the more safe terrains? Good luck and take it steady !
Man that looks like a blast! Build that in your backyard and never leave haha. Woo!
💯
What an amazing looking place, looks a,load of fun, and your lad is really ripping now 🤙😎
Looks like one hell of a fun session 😎🤙
just busted 2 ribs last wednesday... the not skating bit is killing me... i really want to get out and just roll around the bowls
Oh no, yeah just go for a mellow roll around ?!
@@JonBishopSkate yep i did. Was awesome just to get out there. Albeit very very timid
You nutter, fakie fs 5-0 as a warm up to the trick! I’m going to try it but I just got fakie fs stall, it’s so interesting to see skateboarding being so unique to every skater. Another great revisit. 👊🏼

I'll definitely hit that with the surfskates next time I'm down that way. Nice vid' mate Atb
It’s a winner for a carve about !
That track looks like a lot of fun
Never heard it pronounced like that!
I’ve got no idea what any of these places are called, so I just wing it safe in the knowledge that it’ll be wrong 😂

Sick progression mate. Really useful video by steps. Thanks!
Many thanks for tuning in!
Nice work man, great vids and feel your pain for the years of waiting! I was too scared as a kid to even try but managed to drop in twice on the vert at Scarborough recently (only a few inches of vert but I think it counts) at the tender age of 48. Dropping in is, like you say, a binary thing. Do or die. I honestly think you have to actually find a kind of inner peace before you commit- loved the roar!. No excitement and certainly not for a crowd. It’s about accepting that you are going to experience something that feels very unique and embracing the whoosh! Just some thoughts for the conversation- dropping in is one of those unique kind of ‘tricks’ - almost 100% mental.
Yeah dude, agreed 👍
Well done mate well done
Cant believe I missed you at TX, would have come along for a skate! Hope you enjoyed TX!
It was ace 👍
Your lad's progression is impressive ! Keep up the good work !
Is that the Duck Lane bowl at the end? What a bail!!
Hey dude, yeah well spotted, duck llane indeed. First 9’ drop in attempt, didn’t go that well 😢 Many thanks for watching it that far 😂 👍
45 and back on the deck. You are inspiring me to stick at it. Getting the stalls on small quarters and trying to get them mini ramp going. The dream is the bowl !! Thanks man !
Nice one !!
Those stand-up frontside 5050 grinds you got in the shallow end are amazing, I think you got them in the deep end as well Jon!! Get some!!
Insane commitment !
I liked that first trick was cool
I love all the custom mods you made to your gear Jon! 6 pairs of knee caps!?? 😲😱 I need to skate more 💕🙌
Ha, yeah and still found a way to fracture my patella 😂
Nice one! Always surprised more people dont use this feature as it’s actually really functional if you can get past the intimidation.
Heck yeah Jon! I've never come across one of these rainbow 🌈 rails, looks fun!
Wow! I love that switch carving you were working on! That is really sick! Keep the videos coming!
Fakie b/s stall is a spooky one
Went today this pool is savage lol
Looks like fun sesh. I had the pleasure of skating with Sean at Harrow once at the late end of the 80s. Good guy
💯
Sean’s been a busy boy. Just seen a video of him at a pump track near Newquay
the young fulla is getting very good!
"yeah thats right we're back...."
